Great statement necklace for cheap!
I had a bunch of brightly colored buttons lying around from a previous project and wanted to make some sort of statement necklace. So, I searched online and found this lace neon necklace that I really loved and decided to emulate it with buttons. I wish that I hadn't used so many different colors, but that is what I had. Here is the finished product!

    Step 1

LAY OUT DESIGN. On a flat surface that won't be in your way, lay out the design you want. This is just to get an idea of what your going for. it is probably going to change so you don't have to do this if you don't want.

  • Step 2

GET SCRAP FABRIC. I chose an old shirt sleeve. It is better to choose a darker fabric so that your buttons stand out more.

    Step 3

IF YOU CHOSE A SLEEVE... fold your fabric in half long ways and then in half again. Then cut along the quarter fold. you should have three pieces.

    Step 7

LAY OUT YOUR DESIGN on the fabric making sure that the top row of buttons follows the curve that you already cut. I had to pretty much completely redesign mine because the collar i laid out on the table wasn't right. You might want to take a picture to make sure that you glue it right.

    Step 8

GLUE. Tip: don't put too much glue because it will seep through the button holes and look strange and unprofessional

  • Step 9

CLEAN UP THE GLUE. Using tweezers, clean up the glue strands.

  • Step 12

TRIM. Trim your fabric around the buttons. Try to be a precise as you can, but be careful not to cut any buttons off.

    Step 13

SEW TO NECKLACE. using a needle and thick thread, sew the cord to the necklace by sticking the needle up through one of the button holes of one of the side buttons and then pulling the needle through the loop of the cord and back up through the button hole. You might want pliers to help you.

    Step 14

MAKE ADJUSTABLE NECKLACE. Unknot the two ends of the chords. Then take one double end, place it in the middle of the other side and tie a double knot on top. Test to see of the untied end slides back and forth. Do the same the other side

  • Step 15

WEAR. To wear, pull the ends of the two sides to bring the knots together. Place over your head and then pull the two knots away from each other. It should shorten.
