Ottoman slash bedtime story stool slash seat slash jumping off thingee....
This is a little seat I made for my son as he loves monsters... It has been really handy as the seat I sit on when reading him bedtime stories and he's found numerous uses for it too... launching pad for jumping... seat for watching tube... foot stool... naughty corner chair.... the list goes on... Sorry for the low quality pictures in a bit of a hurry to jot it down... I hope the instructions are clear enough for you to follow.

  • How to make a stool. Monster Ottoman - Step 1
    Step 1

Get your box and cut 2 pieces of foam the same size as the top of the box. Place them on the top and get your printed fabric.

    Step 2

Measure how much you'll need to cover the foam and hang about 5cm on the box sides. Cut it and put it over the foam.

    Step 3

Pull the fabric on tight and evenly and use the gun staple to staple all the way round on the edges on the sides of the box.

    Step 4

Get your old tee and cut straight across under the arms so you're left with a tube. I used a womens size medium and it stretched to the right size. Turn the tube inside out and slip a little way over the foam end (have the cut edge on your staples). Sorry a pic wouldve made this easier!!

    Step 5

Gun staple around the top edge (above your previous staples) in a straight row.

    Step 6

Now fold the tube down, so it should now be showing the right way out. Stretch the hemmed edge under the bottom of the box and staple nice and tight all around.

    Step 7

Cut a piece of vinyl to nearly fit the bottom of your box make it about 1cm too small all the way round. Now neatly gun staple this onto the bottom to cover up messy staples.

    Step 8

You're done you now have your very own ottoman :)

Hi, sorry its a bit confusing, I wish I took some pix while doing it, the monster fabric in Step 3, put it over the top and pull it tight and staple on the sides to keep in place (it'll be covered in the tee material on the sides later). In step 4 you use an old tee, just cut it straight across under the arms and use it to cover the sides. So its the tee material I'm talking about in steps 4 and 6... hope this helps, I might use paint to make up some pix to explain better... ur not stupid, its just a bit hard to follow with the lack of pix Happy and yip bit like re upholstering a seat Happy

I'm confused which fabric goes around the box (step 3) and a bit on step 4. And on step 6.
I don't know how to do this at all, but I love the monster cover.
Is it like re-upholstering a seat?
Sorry I'm stupid Happy
