Maleficent costume
My daughter requested to be Maleficent this year for Halloween so we rounded up items from the house, and spent another $10 on some supplies we didn't have to make it.
The horns were definitely the hard part. And they didn't hold up well after kids decided to pull on them :/

Included a boys blazer, liquid leather leggings, scrap fabrics, black feathers, satin ribbon. Dress was used last year for previous costume.

  • Step 1

I used a boys blazer for the cape. Cut the arms off and added leggings for sleeves. I created a stiff collar to add around the jacket collar and used a mesh fabric for the cape. I extended the length of the blazer by adding black fabric at the bottom. Hot glue feathers all around stiff collar, then cover edge of feather with satin ribbon to avoid discomfort and itching.

  • Step 2

I used a horn template to make plush horns, wrapped pipe cleaners around to help mold the shape, wrapped the horns with black satin ribbon, gluing in place every turn, and used a head piece template to attach horns to and hand sewed those on. I glued the head piece to a black knit headband and used a black felt piece underneath to hold the pieces in place. Decorate as you like.

  • Step 3

I also created a silver mesh turban to hold the headpiece in place and cover the entire head.
