Slash & stitch your way to a brand new dress
So I whipped up a DIY studded dress to wear out last weekend! It’s easy, especially if you have an LBD to start with. All you need is a pair of scissors, some studded trim—I bought mine in the garment district, but you can check online trimming supply stores or Etsy—and about 2-3 hours.

    Start with a little black dress that has sleeves (short or long).

    Cut semi-circle shapes out of the shoulders.

    You may want to put the dress on and mark the edges of the shape with pins...

    ...or wing it like I did.

    Cut the sleeves off. Also a good idea to mark this with a pin in advance, and cut an inch longer so you can turn the edge up and top stitch to secure it.

    Use a whip stitch or a straight stitch to attach the trim to the edge of the fabric. First, I turned the edge under and did a running stitch to secure it.

    This can be done in about 5 minutes on the machine or 20 minutes by hand.
