AmiBuddha Pattern
Techniques you will need to know:
- Crochet Terms (US): Chain. Single Crochet, Half Double Crochet. Slip stitch, Join. Invisible Decrease.
- How to crochet in the round.
- How to whip stitch pieces together.
Materials Needed:
US Size F (5 / 3.75 mm) crochet hook.
Two Colors of Yarn. (I used Red Heart Super Saver in Gold for the body, and Cherry for the cape).
- Stuffing (I use Polyfill, but cotton balls will probably suffice).
- Embroidery threads or crochet thread for embroidering the eyes and mouth (or safety eyes/buttons).
- Stitch markers/Safety pins.
- Yarn Needle.
Optional:
- Thread and beads for a necklace.
- Pins to pin body pieces into place before sewing.

Step 1
Head -
Round 1: Chain 2. In second chain from hook, Sc 6 (6)
Round 2: 2 sc in each sc around (12)
Round 3: *2 sc, sc in next sc*, repeat 6 times (18)
Round 4: *2sc, sc in next 2 sc*, repeat 6 times (24)
Round 5 - 10: Sc in each Sc around (24) < - If using Saftey eyes, attach them now.
Round 11: * Inv dec, sc in next 2 sc*, repeat 6 times (18)
- Stuff head firmly. -
Round 12: * Inv dec, sc in next 1 sc*, repeat 6 times (12)
Round 13: Inv dec all around (6)
Fasten off and weave in the ends.Ears -
Chain 2.
Sc 4 in second chain from hook.
Slip Stich to join. Chain 3, slip stitch into first sc. -
Step 2
Body -
Round 1: Chain 2. In second chain from hook, Sc 6 (6)
Round 2: 2 sc in each sc around (12)
Round 3: *2 sc, sc in next sc*, repeat 6 times (18)
Round 4: *2sc, sc in next 2 sc*, repeat 6 times (24)
Round 5: *2 sc, sc in next 3 sc*, repeat 6 times (30)
Round 6 - 10: Sc in each Sc around (30)
Round 11: * Inv dec, sc in next 3 sc*, repeat 6 times (24)
Round 12: * Inv dec, sc in next 2 sc*, repeat 6 times (18)
- Begin to stuff the body. -
Round 13: * Inv dec, sc in next 1 sc*, repeat 6 times (12)
- Add more stuffing if needed to stuff firmly. -
Round 14: Inv dec all around (6)
Fasten off and weave in the ends.Arms & Legs (Make 4 - or 2 if only wanting just legs or just arms):
Rnd 1: Chain 2, sc 4 in second chain from hook. (4)
Rnd 2: 2 Sc in each sc around. (8)
Rnd 3 - 4: Sc in each sc around (8). Fasten off leaving a long tail for sewing onto body.
Do Not Stuff.Chest:
Chain 13.
Row 1: Skip first chain, Sc across (12).
Row 2: Ch 1, turn. Sc in first 3 Sc, Sc & hdc in next sc, hdc & sc in next sc, sc next 2 sc, Sc & hdc in next sc, hdc & sc in next sc, sc to end. Finish off & weave in ends. -
Step 3
Robe -
Chain 13
Row 1: Skip first chain, Sc in second chain from hook. Sc accross (12).
Row 2: Ch 1, turn, Sc across (12).
Row 3: Ch 1, turn, 2 sc in first sc, sc 10 times, 2 sc in last sc (14).
Row 4: Ch 1, turn, 2 sc in first sc, sc 11 times, 2 sc in last sc (15).
Row 5: Ch 1, turn, 2 sc in first sc, sc 12 times, 2 sc in last sc (16).
Do not finish off.
