About
No purse is complete without an inside pocket or two.
All pockets, handles, etc. must be added on before the two layers - inner bag lining and outer bag fabric - are sewn together. I put a plain open pocket on one side of the inside of my "TA-DA" bag and a zippered pocket on the other side.

Step 1
To make a zippered pocket I sewed a welt facing on to the side wall of my bag where I wanted the zippered opening to be. A welt facing is basically a rectangle of fabric. I made sure it was about 1" bigger than my zipper all around. After I centred and sewed it on to my lining wall, right sides together, I cut a slit into the centre of the welt and a snipped up into the corners. I turned this welt facing into the hole and pressed it. My zipper will fit under this small, neat opening now.

Step 3
Now it doesn't matter how deep you pocket is. I made mine approximately 5" deep, so I needed a rectangle of fabric at least 10" long. This rectangle must be at least 1" wider than your zipper on both ends - the same width as your welt facing. I sewed this pocket lining on to the welt facing on the inside – along the top and bottom of the welt facing, right sides together.
