Now that you have created the most beautiful embroidery in the world, it is time for you to learn how to finish your hoop so that when a senior curator from MoMA calls, you will be ready.

Step 1Preheat your glue gun. If you do not own a glue gun, that means you have a life. Congratulations.

Step 2Tighten the hoop as much as super-humanly possible. If you doubt your strength, use needle-nose pliers.

Step 3Using small scissors, trim only the batting down to the edge of the hoop, much as my daughter chews her fingernails down to the quick. (Bonus Question: What is a ‘quick?’)

Step 4Trim fabric, being careful to leave a margin of one - two inches.

Step 5Take the fabric edge and glue it tightly down to the undercarriage of the hoop. Ask the hoop’s father for permission to marriage.

Step 6Working quickly, add a line of glue from your hot glue gun on the back of the wooden hoop. Quickly place a piece of stiffened felt or ‘E-Z Felt’ (as the French call it) on the back of your hoop. Trim away the excess.

Step 7Optional: add a Pom Pom trim for an extra nice touch.
