heating mitten pillows from scraps and filled with rices
I had promised to make some toys for cats for the breeder of Wolfje. (my still kitten cat);-D
And i had some pillowscase leftover for my self. I have problems with freezing fingers in the cold winter time and thought why not craft small heating pillows for in my mitts?

I use them no everytime i must get out and i helps me to get my fingers warm and comfort.
Mayby you can use it too.;-D or make some for friends, when you put some herbs in the pillow cases the smell swell.

  • How to make a hand warmer. Heating Mitten Pillows - Step 1
    Step 1

because i had made some cat toys of the same material and it must be catstable and cat proof, i had sew cotton fabric and a desing fabric on each other.

But you don't have too. You must use two layers if the cotton fabric is too thin of the same size.
So cut 4 shapes of 10cm/ 4 inches by 20 cm/ 8 inches. Or more when you like more heating pillows for in your clothes or i've you want to give this as a present.

Stich before you fold and stich later on the seams, you must sew the two fabrics the desing and the white cotton on each other. on the first pict you see it better, Just round the fabric it will do.

    Step 10

Next step, sew with some stiches the gate in the pillow . Now your done.

You must heated the pillows one minute with some water in the microweave.
Thats because the rice wouldn't dry out .an you will have longer pleasure of your heating pillows.

Lovely idea! I used to have this microwavable bear but when it was heated in the microwave it smelt kind of like plastic I don't know why lol! I might try this. I love the material you used and I bet they smell nice with lavender. Lavender smells lovely. You did a great job! Happy

mayby this is a better answer, when you lay the mitten in the microweave, you set next to them a cup of water. the mittens are not in the water, only laying a side. problems with finding the right words, sorry its not my first langues so i must write more words to explain, but i think this will do.;-D

no not with water, you must set a half cup of water in the microweave when you will heat the pillows in there. It isn't necessary but it keeps the heating pillows much longer useable. I have a heating pillow used for a year without the cup or water, and he is not working longer, because the rices is dry out. Thats why. But heating must you do with the microweave. I hope that this is your answer, thanks for asking.
