Nuts
One of America’s most enduring sandwiches is perhaps the grilled cheese, and while we never outgrow the classic, made with sliced American cheese, this version stretches our taste buds with the decidedly adult flavors of cherries, walnuts, Brie, and bacon. Store any remaining compote in a covered container in the refrigerator for three to four days.

You Will Need
-
Step 1
In a small bowl, combine the cherries, jam, and Grand Marnier. Set the compote aside.
-
Step 2
Heat a sauté pan over medium-high heat. Butter one side of each bread slice. Lay 2 slices of bread, butter side down in the pan. Place 2 slices of bacon on each slice. Layer half the Brie and half the goat cheese on top. Fold the walnuts into the compote, and spread a generous spoonful onto the sandwich. Season to taste with salt and pepper. Top each sandwich with the remaining slices of bread, buttered side up.
-
Step 3
Grill the sandwiches until the bread is golden and the cheese has melted, 2 to 4 minutes per side. Serve each sandwich sliced and dusted lightly with the sugar.
