• Step 1

  Begin using colour one.
  round 1:Magic circle, ch3 (counts as first htc) 2htc into circle, *Ch3, 3htc into circle*, Repeat twice more.Ch3 and Sl st to first st of the ch3. Break yarn pull tail of magic loop to tighten up the centre.

• Step 2

  using colour two.
  Round 2: Ch3 in one of the ch3 “corners” 2htc in same space, ch3, 3htc into the same corner, (Ch1, 3htc in next corner, Ch3 then 3htc into same corner) repeat twice more .Ch 1 Sl st into the first st of the ch3

• Step 3

  round 3: sl st in the next 2 stitches to reach a corner. Ch 3, 2htc into the corner, Ch3, 3htc into the same corner, (Ch1, 3htc into the previous round Ch1 space, Ch1, 3htc into the next corner, Ch3, 3htc into the same space) repeat twice more Ch 1, 3htc into previous round ch1 space.Ch1 Sl st into the first st of the ch 3.. Break yarn

• Step 4

  using colour one
  round 4: Ch3 in one of the ch3 corners, 2 htc in the same space, ch3, 3htc into the same corner. ( Ch1, 3htc in to the precious round Ch1 space, ch1, 3htc into the next ch1 space, ch1, 3htc into the next corner, ch3, 3htc into the same space) repeat twice more. Ch 1, 3htc into previous round ch1 space. Ch1, 3htc into next ch1 space .Ch1 Sl st into the first st of the ch 4. Break yarn.
  Weave in all the ends.

• Step 5

  To make mug cosie, make two granny squares as above.

  Next we shall attach the two square together along one edge.

  First place the two granny squares facing each other
  Work into the inner loops on the top of the square
  sl st into each stitch along the top of the granny squares. Once at the other end, break yarn and weave in.

  To make button loops, at one end of the two granny square htc in each stitch right to the end
  Ch 5 and begin working back along to the other side.
  Sl st into the next 5 htc
  Ch 5
  sl st into the next 6 htc
  Ch 5 Sl st into the last stitch. Break yarn and weave in ends

  To make the button band. At the opposite side from your button loops htc right along to the other edge, break yarn and weave in ends.

  Lastly pick 3 buttons and sew them on to your button band to align with your button loops!
