A simple hat from a sweater.

  • How to make a novelty hat. From Sweater To A Hat - Step 1
    Step 1

    Take an old sweeter and cut the bottom of one side (choose the one that looks better :D The height of the square is about 25 cm.

    Now fringe it. Leave the bottom of the sweeter. It looks good at it is. It will be around your face.

    Place it the good eyes facing you. the bottom of the sweeter should be at the bottom too :) Now fold it to the left and sew as shown. Sew the top and 1/3 on the left side.

    Fringe or crochet the unsewed side once more using a thicker thread.

    Add details if you want. I added some tassels. It's done :)

Is fringing basically sewing up the raw edges using thick thread? It looks really cute on you though! Nice tutorial ^^

You must fringe it because other way they will rip while you'll be sewing it. You might chose not to... Sorry, English is not my native...

Fringe it? Why?? I don't understand why you'd mess up the sides you're planning to sew.

Place the "good eyes" facing you? These instructions are a little rough.

I think CountessAudronasha meant fringing, as in, sewing up the raw edges (that will be on the inside) using thick thread, like another way of overlocking, just on knit instead. Hope that makes it clearer? ^^
