    Step 1

The break occurred on the peg, these flip flops do not have a hole. Drill a hole where the peg was joined to the sole of the flip flop.

    Step 2

Find a piece of sturdy plastic, I cut off a piece of plastic from a 3-ring plastic binder. Drill 2 holes in the plastic about 1/4" in between the holes. Then trim off the excess plastic, creating a small square around the holes creating a "sole" patch.

Using some plarn (plastic yarn), string both ends of the plarn through the plastic and centered on the plarn.

Pull the plarn up behind the straps of the flip flop then over and begin making square knots around the peg & plarn behind the peg. Starting from the top, work your way down the peg.

    Step 6

When you have reached the bottom of the peg and you can't make any more square knots pull the ends of the plarn back up and behind the straps. Then do about 3 more square knots around the plarn at the top of the straps.

Tie an overhand knot on each strand of plarn, snugging the knot up to the last square knot. Then trim off the excess plarn.

Macrame the same way on the other flip flop (without the drilling) so that the flip flops match. And you're done!
