These look great! Just wondered why you say you didn't want them to use a hammer? I wonder if that was just for this particular activity or whether it is policy, or health and safety issue that concerns you? Just to let you know the 3-5s I work with can use hammers, nails, saws, clamps, and even drills on their own (with appropriate supervision of course). I think it's really important to expose children to risk so that their understanding can really develop; we even have fire play days!
