About
Based on Fire And Stained Ice Luminary by Joybells
I have a large ice lantern mold and used the suggested technique of filling the mold with frozen ice wafers (made in ice trays using blue, green, red and yellow food coloring). The end result was breathtaking! The trick to keeping the colored ice wafers from bleeding too much and tinting the clear water is to make sure you fill the ice lantern mold with clear water first and then to lower the temperature in the freezer first before dropping in the colored ice wafers. This is such a simple craft with amazing results! What a great idea! You can probably use kool aid to color the water too. Just be careful if you are using food coloring as it will tint your hands, clothes or counters.
