Cheap home decor that looks like a million bucks!
Turn any old vase or jar into a beautiful work of art by just doodling on it with t-shirt puffy paint and spray painting it white. I found my vase at Goodwill and the rest of the supplies for less than $10.00 total. ( I adapted this project from P.S. I Made This)

  • How to make a vase. Faux Porcelain Pottery - Step 1
    Step 1

Find yourself an old vase that you can paint on. I found mine at Goodwill for only $5.

Clean it making sure that there are no sticker or dirt on the out side.

    Step 2

Decide what type of pattern you would like to use for the design. It could be dots, stripes, circles or anything you want.

I wanted to do something a little challenging, so I found paisley prints and henna designs for mine.

    Step 3

Draw out your design with a permanent marker on the vase. When you are happy with your design, go back and trace the marker with the puffy paint. (Get ready for hand cramps)

Let this dry for about 2 hours.

Once your puffy paint is completely dry, you can now spray paint it. Use a matte pure white spray paint holding the can about 6-10 inches from the vase. This will insure no running or dripping.

You may have to do two coats. Let paint dry over night.

Marvel at your new vase!! BEE-U-TI-FUL!

Take pictures and show it off to the friends and family that love to drop tons of money on home decor.

"Ha! I made this awesome vase for less than $10!"

What a great idea! Since my mother passed away two years ago she left behind many picture frames of all different sizes many never used, and so this idea of yours gave me an idea at what to do with the plain dull looking frames when I get around to them that is. Thanks for sharing your talented idea!

idea: instead of drawing the design hand free, use some wax paper to trace the design on using the puffy paint - you should be able to peal it off once it drys and just glue it on with some spray adhesive or a small amount of super glue.

Wow -- I love this! Did you draw the patterns free-hand or were you somehow able to trace them onto the vase? I sure wish I had seen this before I sold off a pair of old glass lamps recently.
