• 

  Step 1

  Draw a leaf template on your piece of paper. I drew a magnolia leaf instead of a maple leaf, but draw whatever tickles your fancy.

  Step 2

  Lay your template on top of the felt and cut out four or five leaves.

• 

  Step 3

  Using your needle and thread stitch along the outline of the leaf; if you want you can stitch down the center of the leaf too. I made about 1 centimeter stitches (.4 inches) about a centimeter apart.

  Step 4

  Using your hot glue gun, glue them down one by one overlapping the leaves a little bit. Make sure to play with the colors, see which colors look best against which colors.
