For the little fairy that sits on your shoulder telling you to burn things.
I bought these cute little butterfly's at the dollar store for my photo album, but I couldn't use them all. So I decided to make a bunch of different kinds of hair clips with them. Over all, both of these took me about an hour each to make, and they were both fairly simple to do. I loved making the second one so much I made three.

  • How to make a fascinator. Fairy Fascinator - Step 1
    Step 1

First you need to decide what color you want this clip to be. I chose black. So take a piece of felt in your color choice, and cut it into a tear drop shape.

    Step 2

I clipped my hair clip to a piece of cardboard so I don't get glue on the inside of it and accidentally glue it shut.

And now glue your felt drop to your clip.

Now take a feather with a flat fanned end and carefully cut the feathers off the bottom all the way to the edge of the fan.

Now do that to both sides.

And now you can glue it to the tip of your tear drop. You can add more feathers like this if you want want a more fanned out look to it. I would have added more to mine, but I only had one feather like this. All the rest I had are the fluffy looking kind.

Now start gluing feathers to the bottom edge of the felt, and work your way toward the front. Keep gluing till your felt is covered.

Now take a few of the fluffy tiny feathers, the ones that have no stem, and glue it down over the tips of the other feathers to cover then stems.

Now take your ribbon, I used this silver thread, and loop it threw your bell and pull the ends threw the loop and pull tight. I made three of these. You can make more or less if you like.

Now take your bells and your butterfly, or whatever you chose for your focal point, and glue the bells to the back. I made one longer then the others.

Then I glued on a spray of pearls on fishing line. Note - I didn't glue the pearls on the line, I just have NO clue what so ever that these things are called.

Now you can glue them to your feathers. I made sure where I was gluing them was going to be covered by my butterfly when I glued that on.

I ran outta hair clips, so I had to improvise. So instead I made this clip into a tie on hair ribbon. I used two different colors of ribbon, skinny black, and a ribbed purple.

I used two pieces of black, and one from the purple. I cut all three lengths at 55 inches (4 and a half ft).

    Step 20

I held the ribbon on my head at even lengths, then I picked where I wanted the butterfly to sit in my hair. Just above my ear.

Then I glue the three pieces of ribbon together, on the spot where the butterfly will be, and then glued them onto the back of the felt.

This is what it looks like finished.

And it sits in my hair so pretty. Crappy photo with a sucky angle, but you get the idea.
