Sew Fabulous
Use ready-made place cards, scraps of fabric and fusible web to create name cards for your dinner party or celebration. They take a few minutes to make and guests will enjoy taking their card home as a memento of a fabulous evening!

PROJECT VARIATION

If your fabric does not have a suitable motif then trace a simple star, Christmas tree or flower shape onto the back of the fusible web, cut it out roughly, fuse it to the wrong side of your chosen fabric then cut it out neatly. Fuse to the card and embellish.

  • Step 1

Choose a motif from your fabric, making sure it is a suitable size to fit on your place card, and iron fusible web to the wrong side of the fabric.

  • Step 2

Cut the motif out neatly with sharp scissors and remove the paper backing.

  • Step 3

Fuse the motif to the place card, following the manufacturer’s instructions.

  • Step 4

Write your guest’s name with pen or, if your motif is large and covers the card, use a permanent fabric-marking pen. Add buttons or beads to the motif using a hot glue gun if you wish.
