Step 1
Measure your pillow form - add 1/2" to the measurements. My pillow for this tutorial is 13 x 24, I cut my background fabric
13-1/2" x 24-1/2" for the front of the pillow. For seasonal pillows, I use pillows I have in the house, this JOY pillow will only be used for a few weeks. For the back of the pillow, I use a bit of math. I like my envelope to be off center, really about 3/4 of the pillow. I took that measurement of 24" and mulitplied it by 75% or 24 x .75 += 18. I add 3 inches to the 18, which is 21 (this will be called Back A). The 3 inches for the finished edge we will be creating. So for one side of the back will be
13-1/2" x 21. For the other side I use the 24 x .25 = 6 inches. I add 4-5 inches to this, for the overlap in the envelope back. So the second back piece is cut 13-1/2" x 11" (this will be called Back B)
