A tasty traditional Christmas drink.
I love eggnog but you can't buy it as easily in the UK as you can in America, so I decided to make my own.

Step 1Start by separating the egg yolks and whites in to two mixing bowls.

Step 2Beat together the egg yolks with the majority of the sugar, saving a few tablespoons for the whites.

Step 3Add the milk and double cream.

Step 4Add the nutmeg and, if you want to make the drink alcoholic, the bourbon.

Step 5In a separate bowl, whisk the egg whites with the remaining sugar, until thick and fluffy.

Step 6Finally whisk together both of the mixtures and chill. Serve with a sprinkle of nutmeg on top.
