About
A cream for eczema made from scratch using natural ingredients and essential oils.
I made this cream for my boyfriend (who has eczema) after we discovered that most creams for eczema/sensitive skin contain ingredients that are actually bad for the skin.
Often skin products you buy in shops contain an ingredient called "mineral oil" or "liquidum paraffinum" which is a petroleum by-product that coats the skin like plastic, clogging the pores. This oil interferes with skin's ability to eliminate toxins, promoting acne and other disorders. It also slows down skin function and cell development, resulting in premature aging. Unfortunately it is used in many products (e.g. baby oil is 100% mineral oil) because it is unbelievably cheap for manufacturers to buy.

You Will Need
-
Step 1
Before we start!
Essential oil blend: (5 drops of each oil)
This is the amount I used for a 250ml bottle of cream. If you are making less you won't need as many drops.
- Sandalwood (Santalum album)
- Geranium (Pelargonium graveolens)
- Roman Chamomile (Chamaemelum nobile)
- Patchouli (Pogostemon cablin)Tips and suggestions:
- The reason why I have put the latin names is because essential oils are often sold adulterated and one way of knowing if you are buying the real deal is if they have the latin name on the label.
- Do not use the same blend of essential oils every time you make this cream because you will become sensitised to them.
- This cream can be altered to suit other skin types by using different oils (instead of borage and evening primrose) and by using a different blend of essential oils.
- If you do decide to make your own blend of essential oils do some research before blending. Some essential oils can cause skin irritation.Chamomile & Geranium are NOT suitable for pregnant women.
If you are pregnant you can replace these essential oils with more drops of Sandalwood and Patchouli, or other oils such as Tea Tree and Bergamot. -
Step 2
Melt the Borage Oil, Evening Primrose Oil, Beeswax and Cocoa Butter.
We used 50ml Borage, 50ml Evening Primrose, a whole tub of Cocoa Butter and a couple of handfuls of beeswax. But you can experiment, the amounts don't matter.
Once the mixture has melted leave to cool (we put it in the fridge).

Step 5
Afterthoughts
If I made this cream again I would use less beeswax as the cream gets hard and we need to heat it up the microwave. It still seems to do the job though :).Effects
Within days Dean's eczema has improved massively, we can't actually believe how well the cream has worked!
Other oils that will be better for the skin are may chang (litsea cubeba) and indian neem oil .. they have been used in herbal medicine for thousands of years for skin complaints, and I have had great success treating excema, dermatitis and psoriasis with them

I'm gonna try it out too. I hope it works! I'm sick of buying those stupid creams and junk.
