About
Pine Cone Ornaments
This year we have had to be very frugal with our gifts and have sought ways to include as many friends and family as we could. and this simple little ornament became our gift project this year.
My husband and I collected as many perfect cones as we could find and then tipped the ends with white paint. After they dried we brushed polyurethane on them to preserve them and screwed very small eye screws with small round openings into the top of the pine cones. We then tied a twine bow in each eye screw. To make hangers for the ornaments, we used the gold elastic envelope closures from an old set of wedding invitations which we found at a thrift store.
We were able to make a dozen or more ornaments for each person or family. The project cost very little since we had most items on hand and the time my husband and I spent working on this project was a gift all its own. It takes about 15 minutes to complete one ornament.
