About
Based on Diy Duct Tape Steampunk Top Hat by Aidith R.
We bought an oversized top hat at the Halloween Store. Instead of covering it with the tape sticky side out, I covered it entirely with duct tape. I used the hot glue gun to make the seams and rivets. I painted over it with a single coat of brown. The next day I dry-brushed the whole thing with gold paint. Later that day I put a satin clear coat over all. The hat band is made with some old upholstery fabric. I used my handy glue gun to make the folds stay put. The hat pins are made with wire, some beads, a pretty stone and a fabric flower my mother-in-law made. My daughter made the size card and wanted a playing card put in it. Everything is glued down except the playing card. If I had to guess at the time spent on this, I would say 4 to 5 hours and about $25 for the hat, tape and paint.
