Step 1Cut the blades into pieces of adequate length (here 37cm x 20 cm) with a jigsaw. Sand the edges.

Step 2Cut the leather into strips about 1 cm wide and nail them to the tray to make handles.
If you want to make many trays it might be convenient to use a template.
