Choosing either pre-mixed acrylic paints to co-ordinate with your designer paper or mix white acrylic paint with your ink(s) of choice paint the tops, sides and bottom of your letters and allow to dry. Slightly over lap the paint onto the front/backs of the letters just in case there is any unevenness in your cut out letters. This will make it harder to tell!

You may need to do multiple coats to achieve a smooth even covering. Allow to dry.

Once your paint has dried, stick the designer paper cut out letters to the front and backs. I used Mod Podge and also coated the outside of the paper with a thin layer. Be careful not to saturate the paper as it will bubble and possibly tear. N.B if you go over the painted sides with Mod Podge they may smear.
