Step 1
Gather your materials - Nunn Designs Crystal Clay Kit, . Prepare your work space. Make sure it is free of dirt, dust, etc.
Decide how you will use the finished product. I made a tag for my friend, Bixby, a hard-working search-and-rescue dog!
When choosing beads, crystals, findings, etc. to include in your project, make sure they fit inside your bezel. -
Step 2
Read the directions for Nunn Design Crystal Clay carefully. The kit comes with two parts clay, a beeswax applicator, and vinyl gloves. I would suggest figuring out the layout of your beads/crystals/findings before opening up the clay. Once you open the clay and begin kneading the amount you need for your bezel, you have 2 - 2.5 hours before it starts to dry.
With your gloves on, knead the two parts clay until it is a solid color. If it has a marbled look, keep kneading.
Carefully press clay into bezel. Do not fill the bezel up to the top. Make sure you have a small rim of bezel. You do not want the clay to dry over the rim.
Gently place your beads onto the clay using the beeswax applicator. In order to move your beads if needed, do not fully press the beads into the clay until you are satisfied with the finished look.
When happy with your layout, push each of the beads firmly into the clay, making sure they will set when the clay dries. -
Step 5
P.S. You may have extra blended clay left after you fill your bezel. If you don't want to let it go to waste you can use it to create something else. I used mine to make a tree. Remember - you only have 2 - 2.5 hours before it starts to dry, so I would play around with the extra clay immediately after you are done with your first project.
Enjoy!
