  Round 1 (dc2 into next st) 6 times (12 sts)
  Rnd 2 (dc1, dc2 into next st) 6 times (18)
  Rnd 3 (dc2, dc2 into next st) 6 times (24)
  Rnd 4 (dc3, dc2 into next st) 6 times (30)
  Rnd 5 (dc4, dc2 into next st) 6 times (36)
  Rnd 6 (dc3, dc2 into next st) 9 times (45)
  Rnd 7 (dc8, dc2 into next st) 5 times (50)
  Rnd 8 (dc9, dc2 into next st) 5 times (55)
  Rnds 9-27 dc
  Rnd 28 dc, ss to fasten.
  RIB
  ch6, dc4 along chain towards hat
  Insert hook through last ch and back loop of next st
  along edge of hat (3 loops on hook)
  yrh, bring through 2 loops, yrh, bring through 2 loops,
  turn.
  Take working loop off hook and insert next stitch
  along edge of hat, from inside to outside.
  Put working loop back on hook, yrh, pull through both
  loops.
  dc5 through back loops only, ch1, turn.
  Row 1 dc4, insert hook through back loop of last st
  and back loop of next st along edge of hat.
  yrh, bring through 2 loops, yrh, draw through 2 loops,
  turn.
  Row 2 take working loop off hook and insert next st
  along edge of hat, from inside to outside.
  Put working loop back on hook, yrh, pull through both
  loops.
  dc5 through back loops only, ch1, turn
  Rep Rows 1-2 around hem of hat.
  ss into foundation chain to join.

  FINISHING
  Weave in ends.
  Hand-wash, dry flat and block if necessary.
  Sew on pompom.
