Sew Beautiful Quilted Bags
These colorful triangles appear as if they're floating in midair! Use this small bag for shopping trips and excursions, or remove the shoulder strap and use it as a pouch inside a larger bag.

• Back batting: 7 3/8 x 12 in (19.9 x 30.1 cm) -
Step 4
CONSTRUCTION STEPS
Start the front: Sew pieces A-D together to make
five patchwork rows. -
Step 5
Complete the front: Alternately sew the six solid strips and five patchwork rows together. Use the template to trim the bottom corners into a rounded shape.
-
Step 8
Align the back and lining with right sides together. Layer the batting underneath. Sew all three layers together along the top. Turn right side out. Use the template to trim the bottom corners into a rounded shape. Quilt the back with horizontal lines spaced 5/8 in (1.7 cm) apart.
-
Step 9
Align the front and back with right sides together. Sew together around three sides using 3/4 in (2 cm) seam allowance, as measured from the larger front lining. Trim the other seam allowances to 1/4 in
(6 mm), leaving the larger front lining seam allowance untrimmed. Wrap the larger seam allowance around the others and hemstitch to the lining. -
Step 10
Turn the bag right side out. Backstitch the zipper to the bag lining, taking care that the stitches aren't visible on the outside of the bag. Hemstitch the raw edges of the zipper to the lining. Backstitch the D-ring tabs to the bag back using two strands of hand quilting thread (refer to the diagram below for placement).
