I am going to run in the woods
I am going on a holiday to the Ardennes, Belgium. I like woods, trees and forest like crazy. I need a cloak to fit the environment so I made one. I like it very much, it's very warm and cozy and it would be perfect for wintertime too. Something I don't like very much is that I sew through my finger.

{To everyone who asked for the how-to: I am so glad that you like the cloak! I am delighted to make a how-to for you, that's why I made it tonight instead of waiting till I come back from my holiday. I am very tired and I still need to do some thing before I go but with all the happiness you send me I couldn't wait and let you down. Thank you so much.}

(Does anyone know what the difference between a cloak and a cape is?)

  • How to make a cape / cloak. Cloak - Step 1
    Step 1

Fold you fabric, good sides facing each other.
    1) To make a perfect circle, twist the piece of string a few times around the pen, hold the end of the string in the corner and draw a line. The longer the string the longer the cloak.
    2) To make the hood, place the hoodie on the fabric and draw around the edge. Make it bigger but not too big.
    3) Cut this, you will have two pieces.

    Step 2

Do this with the fleece too. Cut it a little bit bigger.

  • How to make a cape / cloak. Cloak - Step 3
    Step 3

Sew around the dotted line. Also with the fleece. Try it on to see if it fits and is as you desire.

    Step 4

The fleece cloak is a bit bigger, turn it over the felt and sew very close to the edge of the fleece. This will be very neat because fleece doesn't fray. You won't have to tie anything off.

    Step 5

Decide where you want the button and pin this place. The lower the button the bigger the collar so don't sew it too close to the neck. Cut a shape like this twice.

  • How to make a cape / cloak. Cloak - Step 6
    Step 6

Sew the button on the pinned place with the strings and the button. I made the string short. Try and decide what you like the most. Make sure it is sewn very strongly.

    Step 7

    It must look like this.

  • Step 8

Now the last thing to do is find a forest and run around all day and night. It will be much more fun to do this with friends but you need to find a bit 'weird' friends because 'normal' people will think you're crazy, but you don't care about that. I've worn it today and people stared. It might look strange to them, for me it's absolutely 'normal'.

So cool! Do you by any chance know how much of each fabric you used?

This is great!!!! I made a cloak awhile back but the pattern I made was tricky and your version seems much easier and nicer Happy P.S. a cape has no hood and cloak does Happy Thanks for the tutorial.

A cloak has a hood and wraps fully around you; cape is more of a fashion accessory or accent, and doesn't functionally keep you warm or protected.

I tried to convert it to a how-to. I failed twice, I think it still fails. I might have to wait and the problem will be solved. If not, I try it as soon as possible.
