Step 1
Grease your pie mould and place in the dough
Place in the apple slices, fan shaped. Start on the outside and work your way to the inside
Heat the sugar with the water in a pan with a thick bottom over low heat
Wait until the sugar dissolves, after which you turn up the heat and STOP stirring (really, no more stirring after this)
Keep heating it until it gets a dark honey colour* (this takes a while, about 30 minutes)
Don't touch or taste the caramel, as it is extremely hot!
Preheat the oven to 170 C (340 F)
Once the caramel is done, gently pour it over the apples, to cover the whole pie
Bake the cake for 35 minutes
Take out of the oven and leave to cool
