I used the same idea to make this Cherry Blossom locket, but I added some of my own features; like:
Multiple photos
A way to lock the locket,
A sweet message to myself (hugs for me!)
Plus, I took a wax seal of a cherry blossom I bought from Etsy and Put it on the locket.

Nail polish and paint don't mix well so you must wait for either the paint or nail polish to dry before you put the other on.
also clear nail polish on top of both nail polish and paint works wonders for preserving both.
