Crochet Therapy
This project involves a range of techniques. The background is created using half treble crochet throughout and can be made to any size. Worked individually, the clouds are appliquéd in place. Carry materials for the clouds in your bag to create when you are out and about.
TENSION
Before blocking: 16 hdc and 10 rows measure 10 cm (4 in).
After blocking: 14 hdc and 9 rows measure 10 cm (4 in).
Dimensions
Baby: 90 cm (36 in) square.
Crib: 112.5 cm (45 in) square.
Lap: 135 cm (54 in) square.
NOTES
If the chain or stitch count differs for each size, the counts are given together, in order of project size as follows: Baby (Crib, Lap).
The number of Clouds you will need depends on the size of blanket. Start by making 24 Clouds, place them onto the blanket and make more as required.

You Will Need

Step 1
To make the blanket
Using MC, make 128 (160, 191)ch.
Row 1: 1htr into third ch from hook (counts as 1htr), 1htr into each ch to end, turn. (126 (158, 189 sts))
Row 2: 2ch, 1htr into base of beg 2ch, 1htr into each st to end, turn.
Repeat Row 2 until blanket is required length.
Fasten off. -
Step 2
To make a Cloud Motif
Using CC, make 10ch.
Row 1: 1dc into second ch from hook, 1dc into each ch to end, turn. (9 sts)
Row 2: 1ch, 2dc into next st, 1dc into each st, until 1 st remains, 2dc into last st, turn. (11 sts)
Row 3: miss 1 st, 5htr into next st, 1dc into each of next 5 sts, miss 1 st, work [1htr, 6tr] into next st, miss 1 st, sl st into last st, turn.
Row 4: sl st into each of next 6 sts, miss 2 sts, 7tr into next st, miss 2 sts, sl st into next st.
Fasten off. -
Step 3
Finishing
Block and press the blanket to the required size, being careful not to overstretch the fabric. Block and press the clouds into shape. Weave in all loose ends.
Place the clouds onto the blanket, starting the first row approximately 10 cm (4 in) from the bottom edge and approximately 5 cm (2 in) from the sides. Once you are happy with the positioning, pin and stitch them into place. -
