Its a simple exercise. Buy a dozen red roses and dip them in bubbling hot roofing tar. Here are some tips. The best roses are dead roses. Seek out the most dried up old red roses that have already been exhibited and smelled to exhaustion and are about to be discarded in the trash. Pick them up out of the trash and take them home and dry them out some more. The best dipping substance is bitumen and not roofing tar. The newly blackened roses dry immediately, but once dry they should be sprayed with a sealant so they don't become become sticky on hot days. Historically, the black rose is given to people who are about to depart on travel adventures from which they are not likely to return.
