  • Step 1

    Drop Biscuits

    Sift together the unbleached flour, whole wheat flour, spelt flour, almond flour, baking powder, baking soda, sugar and salt.

  • Step 2

    Cut in the butter until mealy.

  • Step 3

    Stir in to make batter:
    1 1/3 cup buttermilk or any other milk with 1 tbsp vinegar added

  • Step 4

    Drop on flour dusted baking sheet

  • Step 5

    Bake 15 minutes at 410F or until golden brown
    Makes about a dozen

  • Step 6

    Sausage Gravy
    Brown 1 pound of sausage in a large preferably cast iron skillet on medium high heat.

  • Step 7

    Stir in unbleached flour, whole wheat flour and brown for 3-5 minutes:

  • Step 8

    Stir in water and milk.
    Simmer until thickened and serve over biscuits.
    Grandma says using half water lets the sausage flavor come through.
