Cute warm mittens
I knit a lot of mittens for homeless kids and adults. These mittens fit average-size adult hand.

Right Hand
next rnd: k21, pm, m1, k3, m1, pm, knit to end

Step 4
Knit until the body of the mitten measures 7 inches from top of cuff
-Note: for accurate fit begin tip shaping above tip of pinky.

next rnd: knit 3 rnds
next rnd: k3, k3tog, (k5,k3tog) to last 4 sts, k4
next rnd: k 3 rnds
next rnd: k2, k3tog, (k3,k3tog) to last 3 sts, k3. (18sts)

cut yarn leaving 6inch tail pull through 18 sts and secure -
Step 5
Work the thumb
Join yarn and use dpn to knit across the thumb sts and the holder. Knit 10 rnds. Work dec rnd: K1 (k2tog) to end- 7 sts and pull together. Sew the thumb. -
Step 6
Left Mitten
Work as given for right hand mitten until thumb
