  Step 1

  Using centre colour, begin with a magic circle or ch 4 and join the last ch to the first with a ss to make a loop

  Round 1

  ch 1, 12 sc, join with ss to 1st sc.

  ch 3 (st ch), dc in same sp as ss, *ch 2, skip 1 st**, 2 dc in next st*, repeat from * to * 4 times and from * to ** once, ch 2, join with ss to 3rd ch of st ch.

  Round 3

  ch 3 (st ch), dc in next st, *ch 1, 4 dc in 2 ch sp, ch 1**, dc2tog*, repeat from * to * 4 times and from * to ** once, join with ss around first 2 sts like fp st.

  NOTE : the st ch & first dc count as a dc2tog. Alternatively you can use a false dc to start and make a dc2tog using that instead.

  {30 sts and 12 x 1 ch sps}

  Step 4

  Round 4

  ch 3 (st ch), *ch 3, skip 1 ch sp, dc4tog, ch 3, skip 1 ch sp**, fphtr in next st*, repeat from * to * 4 times and from * to ** once, join with ss to 3rd ch of st ch. Fasten off yarn and weave in ends.

  {12 sts and 12 x 3 ch sps}

  Round 5

  Attach Outer colour to any fphtr with a standing dc, *4 dc in 3 ch sp**, dc in next st*, repeat from * to * ten times and from * to ** once, join with ss to standing dc.

  ch 4 (st ch), ch 2, tr in same sp as ss, *htr in next 2 sts, dc in next 2 sts, hdc in next 2 sts, sc in next 2 sts, hdc in next 2 sts, dc in next 2 sts, htr in next 2 sts**, (tr, ch 2, tr, ch 2, tr) in next st*, repeat from * to * twice and from * to ** once, tr in same sp as first sts, ch 2, join with ss to 4th ch of st ch.

  Step 7

  Round 7

  sc in same sp as ss, *2 sc in 2 ch sp, sc in next 16 sts, 2 sc in 2 ch sp**, (sc, ch 2, sc) in next st*, repeat from * to * twice and from * to ** once, sc in same sp as first st, ch 2, join with ss to first st. Fasten off yarn and weave in ends.

  Step 8

  Join 9 squares together into a large square by holding them right sides together and sc through both loops using the outer colour.

  Repeat.

  Crochet 2 rounds of sc using outer colour around both large squares, with (sc, ch 2, sc) in each corner.

  Step 9

  Enclose cushion by sc the large squares together with your centre colour holding them wrong sides together. Insert the cushion when you begin your 4th side. Work (sc, ch 2, sc) in each corner.
