Just in time for summer!
I have too many t-shirts and not enough bandeaus, and then I had an idea... :)

Yay for more t-shirt reconstructions! I wore a strapless bra under it in the pics, but you can wear it without or sew extra lining/padding.

  • How to make a bra. Bandeau From T Shirt - Step 1
    Step 1

Find an old t-shirt. (This one I had already cut into a tank top) Cut out a rectangle for the front of the bandeau. It should be as wide as the measurement across your chest.

    Step 2

Cut out another strip with the same length. You can make this strip thinner if you like; this will form the back of the bandeau. I left the edges raw, but you can hem them if you want a more finished look.

    Step 3

Cut out two pieces of elastic slightly shorter than the fabric pieces. The elastic, stretched, should measure the same length as the rectangles.

Pin the elastic onto the back piece.

    Step 5

Sew the elastic onto the bandeau. This was the first time I used the zigzag stitch on my machine, so that's why it's uneven...

    Step 6

Sew the two pieces together, making sure it is inside out.

    Step 7

Trim the sides of the bandeau so the front connects to the back smoothly.

    Step 8

Cut another piece of elastic; this one will run vertically down the front.

    Step 9

Sew the elastic down the center to make the gather.
