Andy Warhol used this technique frequently in his work. It is a basic form of printmaking and allows you to make copies or multiples of the same drawing.

    Step 1

    Take 2 pieces of paper. An an absorbent piece (photocopy or cartridge) and a non absorbent piece; tracing paper or shiny paper.
    On the photocopy paper draw or trace your image.

    Join with tape, the two pieces of paper together so that they can open like a book.

    Use the fountain pen or stick dipped in ink to draw a small part of your traced line.

    Before the ink dries, press down onto the absorbent paper. (like closing your book).

    Repeat steps 3-4 until your drawing is complete.

    It will be a reversed image of your original tracing.

    Once the ink is dry, colour with watercolour or coloured inks.

Never knew that about Andy Warhol's "printing" method. Will definitely give this a try as there are times when I'd like to replicate a piece without damaging it. Thanks for sharing this method of transferring.
