Hey, I just tried this on some softer gummies. like actual gummie bears and some fruit gummies as the wine gummies I commented about below are much chewier and they get mushy and take a lot longer. But the soft gummies did not mush at all and only took 3 days to perfection. I personally fill the vodka to level with the gummies so they get all swollen and nice and juicy.
***UPDATE!*** I SOOOO learned a secret! As you can see further down in the field I made these and commented on them well, ACCIDENTALLY I learned some helpful info that will answer many of the questions here in the comments!
If I may The _Sweets share my experience over the past week with your little concoction here.
I made my batch on June 5 using Wine Gummies here in Holland and Vodka. I think about any gummi candy will do well from reading your comments you have here.
We tried the 24 hour idea but of course even though it tasted nice it was mushy on the outside and a bit hard in the center. We didn't eat all of them so we tried them in the fridge and left them out over the next couple days tasting them in between. Still the same result, tasty, mushy, slowly softening in the center and the Vodka kinda gelled around them.
Well we put them back in the fridge and actually forgot about them till tonight June 12 (7 days later). OMGosh! They were SO good! Other than the gelled Vodka surrounding them they had swollen up twice their size and were mellowed out almost to the ORIGINAL consistency of the normal gummi candy meaning they were not mushy at all anymore and tasted delicious! The bite from the Vodka had sweetened and it left a nice pleasant taste and no mush, no hard center, just WOW.
So I would say it is def safe to say you can store them in your fridge for at least a week or two and IF you can wait a whole week (make them a week ahead of time) then the rewards are so worth it!
Thank you for such an ingenious idea! I hope this is helpful and HAVE WILLPOWER everyone! Make em, put them in the fridge and wait a full week.. YUM YUM
(sorry so long, I HAD 2 share!)
I am thinking of useing gummy worms, and tequlia, freezing it in a jar,and takeing on my next fishing trip.We will be so drunk that we will be trying to eat the fishing worms inststead!lol carol B.
whooot
i lovee this idea!!!
its much sweeter then just drinking alkohol, especially since i always used to mix my vodka with fanta and cola and my whiskey whith cola and bacardi with energy drinks and so on, so they taste a bit sweeter. and i cant stand the thought of drinking so much alkohol.especially since theatre weekend
anyways. i really wanna make some. and put them in a jar as a gift. i always put gifts in jars and then eat them all alone....
just have to hack someone before to buy some buzz fur me ;D
I tried it, and it worked out well, in my opinion.
It sucks hat they got mushy on the outside, while still being what they were before, on the inside. When i put them into the fridge, would that help making them less mushy??
But still, it tastes great, and i'm gonna keep them for a festival i have this weekend.
Gonna be so much fun. Thanks for putting this up! ;x
lol glad everyone is liking it! but i've heard people using gummy worms as well. but you can always experiment with different candies and even fruit. and yes, they do go a little mushy on the outside but they still taste the same, but with an extra kick ;)
I got some in the fridge now. It's been well over 24 hours so I tried one earlier and it was a bit mushy on the outside and hard inside so gonna take them out of the fridge and see if the hard center will soften a bit, mushy or not, they taste quiet nice ;-). Thanks for the idea! My friends are trying it this weekend also...LOL
they get a little gummy..er. but besides that they taste awesome. i thinking about doing a malibu rum soaked pineapple. tell me that does not sound AMAZING!
my brothers use vodka as well as other alcohol types. they have found that if you keept stirring them and store in the refridgerator they are less likely to get deformed... become enlarged, but not break down.
