    Step 1

Find or purchase a wooden tray. Mine had been used for gardening so I cleaned it up first and now it is ready for a coat of paint.

    Step 2

Using a medium to large paint brush, add 2-3 coats of acrylic paint using the color you want to be the base color.

I made a stencil out of vinyl using a digital paper cutter, but you can do the same using an exacto knife to cut out your stencil.

Using transfer paper, apply your stencil to the bottom of your tray. Apply 2-3 coats of your secondary color, let dry, and remove stencil. On mine I ended up liking the look of the stencil on the tray, so I left it on there instead of painting on my secondary color and removing it.

Once the paint has dried, apply 1-2 coats of Mod Podge to seal your tray.

Once the Mod Podge is dry (follow instructions on the bottle), enjoy your *new* tray by enjoying some hot tea or serving pastries to your friends!
