• 

  Step 1

  Materials:
  Paint. I wanted the candles to be purple, so I mixed blue and red, it was too dark so I added a little bit of white.
  Black marker.
  Brush.
  Pencil.
  Ruler (optional). I used the ruler to measure out the spaces between the lines. Not to make the actual lines.

• 

  Step 2

  I forgot to photograph the first step, but all you have to do is decide how far apart you want your lines. I did just every group of 4 and not each one.
  Afterwards, I started free styling the lines.

  Step 3

  After you have the groups of four, you wanna go back and start placing the fifth stick diagonally on top of the group.

  Step 4

  I thought that just sticks looked super blank, so I decided to make them into birthday candles by adding a little flame on top of each one from the fours. I skipped the fifth cause a diagonal candle just doesn't look good, IMO.

  Step 5

  To give it a more finished look, you wanna go around the candles with the black marker.
