Flaked On Swap

Ok, this is just an idea. I've noticed that quite a few people have been flaked on, but they still have the items that they've made, and no one to give them too.

What if you guys got together and swapped your pre-packaged things? If you get something that doesn't suit your style you can add it as an "extra" in the next (successful) swap you do, with a note stating the person who actually made it.

*and if someone does give your item away like this, you are required to not be offended! ;)

Maybe? I don't know. I can't really do this one because my flaker/partner finally sent me the stuff she was supposed to send.

Maybe if you've been partnered with a flaker, but you've already sent your stuff off..you can be paired with someone in the same situation and you can do a new swap. Example:

Annie was flaked on in the Apple Swap
Tootsie was flaked on in the Pear swap...

SOOOO

Annie makes a pear for Tootsie and
Tootsie makes an apple for Annie.

Does that make sense?

*This isn't an official swap...I'm just giving an idea for you guys. If you'd like me to host it and do the pairing or whatever I will. ;)

That's a good idea Dessah! I can't participate because lucky me I've had awsome partners and I've never been flaked on but there are quite a few people who have so it's a great way to "get rid" of the stuff you made and finally get the stuff you were supposed to get.

This is a great idea, Dessah. Me and EVEnl both were flaked on by the same partner so we teamed up and did just this! So we're getting rather random but fun items instead of the swap we were expecting! It really turns the experience of being flaked on around, turns it into something fun and unexpected, and reaffirms your faith in the swapping community Happy

Ok... just to get an idea of what we're working with, if you want to join fill this out. We'll see if it's a workable idea. Fill one out for each swap you got flaked on. (If you have several, but only want to ship one, that's fine.)

Remember, this is for if you do have packages sitting around OR if you've already sent out. Your swap will be tailored to your situation.

*I guess I should post some rules too, in case this takes off.

*I will pair you with a swap partner according to your flaked situation. (shipped out or still have items)

*If you are shipping out items you've already made, you are required to contact your partner for address information and ship out within 1-2 weeks.

*If you are being paired with a partner for whom you are making items, you may contact her for specifics of the swap.
For example: You may choose to make each other's swap theme. (The one they would have received) according to the original swap's rules. OR you may choose to make items along your own agreed upon swap rules and themes. I'll leave that up to you. ;)

*If YOU flake on this swap, (without a legitimate reason) I will add your name to the PERMANENT LIST OF FLAKERS!! Do not take advantage of this swap. Seriously.

I have never been flaked on (I've only done one swap) but this sounds like a fantastic idea. I was getting a bit sad by the long list of flakers on our flakers post so this is a very positive step to heal the wounds of those that have been flaked on.

This is such a great idea. Last night I was griping to Shlomi about how 2 or 3 swaps of mine have gotten lost in the mail--both ways!! This doesn't exactly count as "flaking," since as far as I know, we both sent out and the packages just got lost (THANK YOU, Israeli postal service.......).

I think I'm quitting swapping, just for this reason. It really upsets me to put my heart and soul into something, send it off, and then it just disappears. It's even worse when I forget to take a photo of something!! (Example: a rockabilly apron with a ruffled edge that literally took me weeks to finish.... that I forgot to take photos of because I was in a hurry to get it in the mail.... :'( )

Sorry if I went off-topic, but I really needed a rant. :-s

So I was thinking about this one over the past couple of days and thought I'd go first and see if it works and post my swap that I never sent out, anyone is welcome! Preferably someone who has kept a swap from another flaker that way nothing new has to be created. Also, as stated in the first post - as this is made/crafted for someone else's wants/needs then both parties have permission to pass on the items obviously stating who made it... Fair?
