Tote Bag Mystery Swap -Closed!

Update: Sign ups are closed, and I've finished sending out addresses. Please try to have your bags mailed by June 30 (if yours will take longer then contact me)

I love tote bags, and I thought it would be a good theme for my first swap since nobody can ever have enough. So here we go, basically you just make a simple, yet creative, tote bag, then I will send you an address and you ship it off to that person and wait for yours.

How is this a mystery? Well I'm not going to give anybody any names and the person you send yours to will not be the same person sending you one.

Why? I don't know, I just want to make it a bit more interesting. Also I hope it will make it more exciting since you won't know what to expect

How can you ship something to someone without using their real names? Use fake names, I can give you one or you can make one up, just make sure it is appropriate (no bad words) and not too crazy (Think Sandra Swayze, instead of McFluffy Mubobble). Don't worry about getting in trouble, I used to work at a post office and as long as the address is right it should get to the person, plus I have been using fake names for my friends' letters for the last five years. If you aren't the person that collects your mail though, then let the person that does know you are expecting an envelope address to a weird name.

What if they have to sign for it? Just make sure it is mailed in an envelope no bigger then 27cm wide and 38 cm in length. (This will make it a letter instead of a parcel, so you shouldn't be required to sign)

Will we ever know who sent it? Sure! Once you receive a bag in the mail describe it on the board, and we can find out who got whose bag. I'll also have a master list of who is getting whose bag, so if you don't receive a bag then I can contact the person for you and find out if they are still participating.

What do you mean by 'creative'? Just go crazy and make it original! Nobody wants to receive just another plain white bag. Use some of the tutorials on here to learn how to stencil, dye, add sequins and beads, knit plastic bags, sew patches on, make crazy stitches, use fake fur, or whatever else you can think of.

Are you a little crazy? Yes, but hopefully, despite my madness, this will go smoothly.

I like the idea of doing tote bags..but I'm not so sure I like the idea of making it a mystery....I even know what kind of bag I would want...I'd want a plarn tote bag...meaning if someone were to want to make me a plarn tote bag..they'd probably have to crochet it...and it would take a while...I am thinking about making one for myself even...anyone up for a crochet swap maybe? (sorry, kinda took this idea and went with it)

I was hoping that the mystery element would make it a little more exciting, since you won't know what to expect and it could be something you never even thought of.
But I do understand that it might not be for everybody, so good luck with your crochet swap, I might be interested depending on how this swap goes and if I'm not too busy. (I'm just learning how to crochet so it would be good practice Happy )
