Fabric/Material??

So I really want to start some serious sewing. So far I've been using old cloths ect.

I have no Idea where to get fabric from. I mean like pretty stuff I have seen used about here, So where do you get it from?
Im in England. Any one know of any good places or where to look?

At the IKEA the sell all kinds of fabric. Most of the fabric I buy/have comes from the IKEA.

Look into what shops are around you; your local craft/fabric stores is a seemingly unending and excellent resource. Not only can you find very good fabric on sale, you can hunt through the shelves for inspiring supplies.

But the people who work/hang around craft and fabric stores are the best resource you can find. Countless times when I've been stuck on a project or lacking inspiration, these are the people who can take another perspective on your creation and give you pointers on how to improve.

I would NOT, as tempting as the low prices may be, advise buying fabric online. Fabric can get damaged in shipping, and it is hard to determine the actual color and hand of the fabric over the internet. I only buy fabric online when it is something I can't find anywhere else and is a fabric that, even if something happens to it, I can wash/dry/fix/cover the issue, like cotton.
