Plushie Stuffing

Can I use cotton balls? I heard of something called poly-fill(?) but I can't find that anywhere near me. It can be pretty much anything right? Stupid question I know. But it isn't so funny when plushies explode :o(

Cotton balls would work, but not sure if it will still hold up if it gets wet, say you have to wash it or something. But scraps of material would work too.

i buy my poly fil at walmart because it is the cheapest, but you can find it at a jo-ann or michael's craft store. i have used scraps of fabric to stuff plushie as well- but the plush comes out a little hard. i've never used cotton balls- but i know some people use cotton stuffing in plushies so i say give it a try. i don't know how your plush will look after a wash- maybe try it on a small scale first????? good luck- let us know how it comes out!

I finally found some proper filling! So glad I didn't use cotton or anything else. Almost forgot just how much better it is. Not easy finding all the stuff I need in a new town, yeesh.
Thanks for the suggestions guys.
I actually miss Wal-Mart now and how it has pretty much anything.

I use the filling from old hollow fibre pillows. They always go out of shape when you wash em so are no more use as pillows and I can't bear to throw them away so started to use the stuffing:]

As an alternative (as long as you don't plan to wash it) for a more floppy look, you can use dried beans or rice. I've also heard of people using plastic grocery bags.

plastic grocery bags sounds like a cool eco friendly thing, and i bet it would make the toys sounds crinkly when you hug them- babies like that sort of stuff- or at least mine do anyway Happy

If you have a thrift store near you you could look into buying old pillows and using their stuffing. I've aslo been known to massacre an old plushie or two for their guts...lol.
