Halloween costume help

Ok, so. I've got a grand idea for an halloween costume, but I need some help finalising the deets...

See I had to think of a costume idea for two (me and my tom, because we're a couple right, so we do things together)

and it seems only fitting that we go as a blackjack and a fruit salad.




They're basically the same as one another, although one's aniseed flavour and the other's fruity. (no prizes for guessing which)

So we can obviously do the whole box costume thing. used here to great effect but we want something comfortable, because we'll probably be sitting down a fair bit and moving around and yeah...

so i thought i could make a similar thing out of stiffened felt but it'd cost me big bucks.. (by big bucks, i mean like £40... which is big bucks for a halloween costume...)

anybody got any better ideas?

Yes! Old clothes painted with fabric paint or you could spray paint them!. Faces painted and maybe get some big paper and paint the black jack/fruit salad design on them and then stick them onto yourselves. That's such a good idea Roma and I like the ipod thing too lol! And maybe make a square head peice thing with boxes (free if you ask in a shop, sometimes) so you look like the shape but without getting stuck on a bus or in a taxi etc lol

I love your idea!!! Here is how I would do it.

Fruit Salad (female) : Make it FRUITY! Since the wrapper is spirally, I would take a Yellow sleeveless tank and tie-dye it with pink. Then make a skirt for the bottom using pink and yellow from the how-to found here http://www.cutoutandkeep.net/projects/how_to_make_a_tutu.
It keeps it fun and whimsical. Wear colorful tights and pointy shoes.
Put a ring back on one of the square pieces of candy as your "bling" and a headband that has small pieces of fruit of to one side.

It makes it fun and "fruity"

Black Jack (male) : Make it GANGSTER! Go to a second hand store and purchase a white button down work shirt and tie-dye it with black to have the twirled black and white. For he bottoms wear black and white pinstriped pants. Make a tie out of black jack wrappers. put on a pinstriped fedora and maybe more wrappers around it like a belt.

To make i more interesting you could wear barcodes and stickers that say "Barratt" on them.

I know you've decided but I couldn't help thinking Carmen Miranda native look with that fruit thing on her head, and her slinky dresses, just google her, she's kinda old.

And a Johnny Depp style pirate.
