Good question @cabibbo, I have the same trouble too - even with store bought jewellery. I've considered soldering the rings closed - has anyone tried that?

Awesome tip KT - I'm a little tempted to hit up the pound shop (aka the dollar store y'all) and make one for myself Happy

Hmm, I've never tried buying specific beads online but I'm guessing that would be a lot cheaper than buying them from the shops now you mention it. I did get a bead subscription box from Blueberry Cove Beads which was fun though!

I'm doing this and the beads are gorgeous - I'd highly recommend it for anyone who loves making jewelry!

We tried out resin the other week but it went really badly for us. It didn't set and then it started to turn yellow and still, to this day, it hasn't set. Any idea why?

Yeah, melting beads does smell pretty bad but the possibilities are endless.

Are pony beads the round, flat ones that are usually made of plastic and come in bright colours?

You could melt them down and make cool plastic things with them!

That's what I was going to suggest. See if you can get a set of mini pliers. Wire cutters are good too!
