Interesting instruments?

I've been looking recently at various instruments, as I've decided I want to learn to play a new one, but I want something unique. I've been considering ukelele, since they're cute and portable and I love the sound, but what other interesting instruments are there that you play or that you know of?

I am taking a ukulele class in a few weeks. I am super excited about it.

I played bass clarinet for many year. Its unusual in the sense that it doesn't look a like a regular clarinet. However, its expensive and not very portable.

I love the banjo and once tried to teach myself how to play it. Sadly, it didn't go to well.

How about - bagpipes, panpipes, oboe, harmonica, recorder, piccolo, accordion, crwth (A welsh string instrument) banjo ukulele (I have seen these on ebay. I am really curious about them)

I think the harpsichord is one of the most beautiful and haunting instruments I've ever heard. And most people have never heard of it.

I have never played a harpsichord, but the sound is just amazing.

I enjoy the sound of a mandolin. I played one in a band with my fiance and one of our friends for a while. I also love the violin.

I'm quite partial to string instruments, though I find a flute fun to play as well.

You could also try playing the harp. Even though everybody has heard of it, not that many people play it.
