Making money with photoshop

So I have photoshop and I've been using it for years. Although I am self-taught I can edit photos and get a nice natural look. I mostly photoshop people and I've done some edits as favours for friends and family but I've been wondering lately if I could make any money from it. I've been told by some people that I should charge strangers for editing pictures. If I were to do that should I open an Etsy account? Do other people do that on Etsy?

I've never really given it much thought but I've been told to do it so often that I'm thinking about it. Does anyone else charge for photo edits? Also, hypothetically,
would you pay to have a photo edited?

I charged for senior pictures and included photoshop as one of my extra services. Taking off braces earned me alot of money Happy

Right now, there's a market flooded with people who can do photoediting and other graphics things on computers because there are a *ton* of people in every college in the graphic arts program that use Photoshop and other Adobe software.

I've seen people on Etsy who do photo-manipulation for money, but I don't know how well it really pays off... a lot of them end up on Regretsy.

Right, thanks for your feedback. Happy If I would do any editing it would only be as a side thing - not a full time job. I know there's no real money to be made in it. I actually just really enjoy editing pictures so doing it would almost be like a hobby that I would get a bit of money for. I'm almost willing to do it for free. Happy

I've seen the regretsy posts - those are horrible! The scary/crazy thing is that someone thought that it was a good idea.

Felecity- That's really cool that you found what people want. I can definately see a lot of highschool kids wanting brace-free pictures. I mostly stick to touch-ups as well. The basics: teeth whitening, skin softening, blemishes, I even do body touch-ups. I can make you 10 pounds thinner instantly! That should be my catch phrase... There's a ton of money to be made in the weight loss industry. hahaha

Haha! I knew a girl who was 280 pounds (didn't dress well for it, otherwise she'd look great without photo manip)... she was really full of herself and did nothing but flaunt her boobs all over the internet (she was 15/16 at the time) to get guys to talk to her... Until I pointed out to them that the plastic strips on the floor where she was sitting didn't match the rest, and told them she was trying to photoshop out 150 pounds and just couldn't. Maybe if someone who actually had skill edited her pictures, she wouldn't have inadvertently given herself jowls while trying to "soften" her face. She tried to say that her "friend" took the picture and didn't do anything to it.. but you know... 15/16 year old girls who wanna get guys online aren't exactly the best liars, especially when they can't accept their bodies so they try to have someone else's. blah blah...

Oh no! Photoshop can be disastrous when you don't know how to use it! I never understood why people would photoshop their pictures like crazy to meet people on the internet because if they ever go to see them in person they will be surprised!
