nightmares and night terrors

I'm an insomniac and have nightmares lol. It takes me hours to get to sleep and when I do it's punctuated by dreams, not all bad, usually extremely surreal and very occasionally I get a nice one.
I've tried all kinds of herbal and chemical remedies but to no avail.

I read that people don't actually need eight hours sleep, most of us need far less anyway, so I guess as I'm not nodding off into my dinner or anything then I probably get enough sleep for me. It's just not very nice lying in bed yawning and feeling like my eyes have been poked with a pissy finger for ages *sigh*

Yeah I guess it just depends on what sleep you need. I used to need about 4 hours a night, now it's 7 or 8... just lately (had suspected swine flu and a chest infection) I could sleep all day! 7-8's just an average.

It's definitely worse to lay in bed feeling stressed about not sleeping than to get up and do something!

I usually end up playing games or reading books on my phone til the early hours, it has a night setting so no eyestrain=)

Well it's 1:05 and if I go to bed now it will be a ridiculously early night. I normally get to sleep about 5am, then sleep as long as physically possible - sometimes until like 4pm the next day, although that's normally if I've been drinking and stayed at Andy's. The problem is, because I can't sleep at night but can during the day, I try to do that and do interesting, time-consuming things at night, but next semester I've got 9am lectures. That means 7:30am alarm. That means like two hours sleep, great. And one of them is a full day =(

If I know I have to get up early then no way I can get to sleep. When I had to get up at 7.30 every morning I was on the verge of collapse by the weekend because I'd had hardly any sleep during the week.
I can't sleep during the day, I keep thinking I should be doing something while there's proper daylight=/

I'm so jealous of all of you. Ooh, it's 4:10 now, and I'm still up! I won't get anything done tomorrow.

Ahhh well it's a quarter after 1 in the morning here, and I don't suppose I'll be getting sleep anytime soon! >.< I laid down like an hour ago, and for whatever reason have been all anxious and unable to sleep - like my body is thinking about panicking but not quite doing it, which was odd, because it's raining which is usually quite relaxing. Until a few minutes ago, when the power went out, this awful noise happened and the entire yard turned green. Tornado, anyone? But it looks like I'm still here, and the storm seems to be passing, so hopefully my body will calm down and let me sleep! >.<

Bah I didn't get to sleep til 4am and then I had a weird dream that that Tesco nicked back all the delivery crates I've nicked off them for when I move house. Checked this morning, they are still there phew=)

Haha that's guilt, Laurel!

Went to sleep at 6am, woke up 4pm. Problem is, I actually have to get up this Wednesday. Not sure whether to like, force myself to sleep tonight? Or maybe just suffer on Wednesday and hopefully it'll make everything go back to normal.

I'd go with the suffering on Wednesday, you can't force yourself to sleep, usually has the opposite effect - it does with me anyway=)

Technically I'm only borrowing the crates, I'll give em back when I finally get moved - honest=D
